About the Role

We are working with local authorities and education partners to appoint experienced Educational Psychologists on an interim contract basis. These posts support the delivery of statutory educational psychology services across various locations with flexible working arrangements, including fully remote options where appropriate.

You will conduct assessments, provide statutory advice, support SEND processes, contribute to multidisciplinary work, and work collaboratively with settings, families, and professionals to improve educational outcomes for children and young people.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Undertake educational psychology assessments to inform statutory advice for Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and plans in line with legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports and contribute professional advice to multidisciplinary panels, reviews, and SEND tribunal preparations where required.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, young people, schools, early years settings, colleges and other professionals to support positive outcomes and inclusive practice.
  • Provide consultation, outreach, and developmental support to education settings to improve access, learning and attainment for all children, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Promote and model best practice, psychological frameworks, and evidence-based approaches to support organisational priorities.
  • Maintain high standards of professional practice, CPD (Continuing Professional Development), and compliance with professional regulations.

About You / Experience

You will be a qualified and experienced educational psychologist with:

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience working as an Educational Psychologist in local authority, educational or multi-agency settings.
  • Demonstrable experience of conducting psychological assessment, report writing, and contributing professional advice to SEND statutory processes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload across different settings and contexts.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills with children, families, schools, and partner agencies.
  • A proactive, reflective practice mindset with a commitment to inclusive outcomes.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Qualified status approved by the British Psychological Society (BPS) in Educational and Child Psychology (or equivalent), including Graduate Basis for Registration and recognised postgraduate qualification.
  • Current registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Educational Psychologist.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of child development, psychological theory, legislation, and child protection procedures.
  • Commitment to inclusive practice, equal opportunities, and professional development.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with virtual teams or in remote/ blended delivery models.
  • Previous local government, educational transformation, or multi-agency partnership experience.
